If you read yesterday’s post, you’ll know that we had a ~bit~ of a heavy but wonderful one on Saturday night. Starting at a gin festival, ending at 4AM in Camden. Absolute madness.
As ya might imagine, we had a rather hefty hangover to handle. The answer? Brunch (& two paracetamol, ofc). As I am in a new corner of London, there are oodles of new spots I am itching to try, one being Appestat.
We tumbled in, hovered briefly for a table, then collapsed into our seats, swiftly ordering a round of coffee.
It was notably delicious, flavorsome coffee, Climpson & Sons I believe. Coffee is becoming a bigger part of my life these days (is this what happens in your 20’s?) and I can really appreciate a good cuppa beans, Starbucks and Pret ain’t got nothing on smaller independent coffee connoisseurs.
Everything on the menu looked dreamy, Emily went for the full English, whilst Ellen and I both chose the Lean Green.
Toasted German rye, organic poached eggs, wilted spinach, slow roasted tomatoes, homemade organic baked beans, grilled field mushrooms, hass avocado (whatever ‘hass‘ means) and organic feta.
SO. GOOD. But it didn’t quite satisfy our hungover appetite, we decided brunch pudding was absolutely needed…
If you have cake on the mind, ya just gotta go for it. Life is far too short to deprive yourself of baked goodness.
I would absolutely recommend a trip to Appestat next time you are in the Islington area, it is wonderful. The staff are friendly, food is banging and prices are pretty decent too!
Find ‘en here – 102 Islington High Street, N1 8EG – open 9 – 5 on Saturday and 10 – 5 on Sunday.
