Could we say that is is aaaaaaaaaalmost summer now? Spring is pretty much over (well, the blossom is gone), I’ve had more than a handful of ice creams, people are starting to complain about the sweatiness of the tube AND I think it is finally time to ditch my winter coat.
YAS so excited for (fingers & toes crossed) warm evenings, BBQ’s on the reg and Pimm’s on tap. I am also looking forward to more weekends like the one I have just had.
Matt and I headed down to the Isle of Wight last weekend. If you are new around this slice of internet, I grew up on this island. Trust me to live on a patch of land surrounded by a moat, lol.
It does cost a fair few pennies to get there, so visits are pretty rare… but when we do? BY JOVE is it worth it.
I dragged Matt outta bed for a run in my favourite spot on Sunday morning.
Appley. Not the dreamiest beach you can find on the Island, but it holds so many memories for me. The house I grew up in is a 30 second walk away, so I spent a lot on this beach over the years! The most amazing sunrises, many BBQ and Strongbow guzzling sessions with friends, high school antics and a lot of running.
We ended up with a cuppa T and breaky at the cafe.
As the sun was shining, we decided to head over to our beach hut for the afternoon. I have wanted to show you around here for a while! (Actually, it did feature in my first ever blog post) lol.
Most summers were spent here since I was the teeniest nipper. Just an old railway carriage that my dad transformed into a walk in fruit bowl (much to 13 year old Immys embarrassment). We have filled it with body boards, BBQ’s, rackets and wet suits over the years. How cool that the original luggage rack is still of use?
The original kettle that whistles when it’s ready. Kinda looks like an ancient artifact now, doesn’t it?
The boys with their Sunday papers.
And mugs of tea…
Nice lil spot isn’t it?
Oh ohohohohoh I also wanted to show you my new dress! It did make a little appearance over on Instagram, but I wanted to show ya properly here.
My fave part is the back, hooooow beaut?!
Perfect for lil summer shindigs, beach days and maybe even dressed up for a wedding.
I have paired it with cute H&M Dorothy pumps (only 8 quid!) and a red lip. Red earrings would also look pretty sassy too I’d imagine.
Nab it here if you fancy it, I won’t mind >:)
Anyway, dontcha think it’s time for a spot of lunch?
… Thought so.
Baywatch on the Beach was one of my first summer jobs. I wore a blue polo top and shorts, serving heavy bowls of moules mariniere, fish ‘n’ chips and fresh baguettes all day long. It was SO much fun, despite the swarms of wasps and heavy plates, I worked with my pals and the tips were pretty damn good. Oh the simple life ey?
We started with frosty bevs. Nothing beats a cool pint of cider on a sunny day.
Beer for Matt, naturally.
The food was just as good as I remember. Fresh prawn and avo salad, fresh baguettes, perfectly crispy chips… Ooooft.
The perfect afternoon.
Have you ever visited the Isle of Wight before?
