I’ve harped on about Spring enough for you to know that I am a fan. I think we are both seasoned Spring lovers, ain’t we?
The warm(ish) weather, unleashing of the pins, blossom trees filling our streets (and Insta feeds), light evenings and impromptu social gatherings. You gotta love it.
Gone are the days of grey commutes and numb toes, tis’ the season for gallivanting in the soft evening sunshine, after work adventures (to the beer garden)… Or in our case, a full blown school night picnic.
This may seem keen for April 18th, however at a glimpse of sunshine us Brits go ALL OUT. We sell out of burgers (true story), every ice cream van takes to the roads, the parks are rammed, the builders take their tops off. We really do go wild.
We ain’t the only ones who love the transition of the seasons. Remember how much we LOVED Hygge? Yeah, the Nordic folk have it goin’ on when it comes to season appreciation.
Although we have just had a corker of a Bank Holiday weekend, our Swedish friends have a big ole shindig when the official start of Spring comes round. They call it ‘Walpurgis Eve’, basically a maaaahosive party on the 30th April with bonfires, friends, fam and a lot of merriment. That natural celebration of life is just so contagious, I wanna hop on board ASAP.
With the Swedes in mind, I rounded up the gal pals for a lil after work picnic. After writing this post, I am ALL for mid-week shenanigans. Why not treat yo’self on a Tuesday, ay?
I grabbed all the blankets I own, picked up a LOT of delicious food from M&S and stocked up on a few frosty bottles of Rekorderlig Cider. Because it is Swedish… And friggin’ tasty.
We got the music goin’, popped some bottles and got stuck into our spread (after Instagram, of course).
My personal fave is the Wild Berries, however the girls ALL went for Strawberry Lime. They are just so darn refreshing, especially in a pint glass with a load of ice… My picnics have not yet reached that level of sophistication. Soz gals. We did however have a cheeseboard and macarons (from Aldi, FYI), so that’s kinda sassy, no?
Celebrating an otherwise ordinary Tuesday evening just because feels so good. That’s what life is all about, right?
Cheers to many more evening picnic partaaaays!
Have you had your first Picnic / BBQ of the year yet? Am I too keen?
Thaaaanks Oscar May for the lovely snaps, you da best.
This post was kindly sponsored by Rekorderlig Cider, howevs the love for spring, picnics and delicious beverages are all my own. Obviously.
