Our First Christmas Tree

Oh hello December, ya cheeky lil rascal.

I can’t quite the believe the year is almost up, but I’m not gon’ lie, I am pretty darn excited about start of the festive season.

The Christmas markets popping up across the city, glittering lights twinkling from every building, mugs of mulled wine warming frosty hands and a chocolate every morning before breakfast. Whats not to love?

This Christmas is a special one for Matt and I. Although we have been in our abode for just over a year now, this will be our first proper Christmas… As in, our first Christmas tree. HEHE!

There is something I find so special about the first tree that ain’t ya rents. As a sentimental lass, I will probs remember the way we decorated this tree forever… Even if it is covered mostly in ribbons, fairy lights and donated baubles (thanks Mumma May).

It will take years to slowly gathering lots of lovely festive decorations, but y’know, it’s a start.

When choosing the tree on a bright winters morning, I had the picture of a huge field full of beautiful pines, but no such ting in London tan. I met Mum early yesterday morning for tea, then we ended up in Homebase grabbing one for 20 quid, nat bad!

This gal… <3

The tree’s not huge, but the perfect size for our lounge and smells BEAUT. We adorned it in tartan bows, warm fairy lights and red, green & gold baubles. Lolling at our cute lil snap by our diddle tree… I promise it looks better in real life!

There’s nothing better putting up a Christmas tree, then snuggling on the sofa with steamy mulled wine, de-lish mince pies (faves are from Iceland) and the tree twinkling by your side. Uh I just bloody LOVE Christmas!

Is your tree up yet?

As always, feel free to come and say ‘ello over on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Bloglovin, YouTube and Snapchat (immymay)

  • Great tree!! It’s always so exciting your first one. Ours was so tiny and from Argos and I think it had more baubles than branches! Can’t wait to put ours up.

  • Congrats on the first tree 0:) I grew up not celebrating Christmas (although my birthday is Christmas eve) so it took me a while to get used to the swing of festivities, there’s so much to do! I love me a bit of mulled wine though so… ;-) your place looks so cosy and you both look ‘sah cuuuute. I think we’re getting a real tree this year too so let loose the decorations! I remember the first bauble I bought from Liberty – very twinkly!
