DIY Pumpkin Spice Latte

psl1

The humble PSL. What Autumn is aaaaall about.

Each year on the 1st of September, Starbucks launch their Pumpkin Spice Latte… Or coz it was so bladdy hot this year, the pumpkin spice frappuccino lol.

I kinda wanna love it, mainly because I really enjoy being a basic biatch at times. Also the autumnal Starbs cup against a pastel wall would be great for the ole ‘gram #blogger4lyf. But in all honesty, it isn’t great.

It isn’t that mouthful of delicious spiced warmth you crave on a crisp autumnal morning, or the bev you wanna sip on snuggled on the sofa after work. It is super sweet and I can only have a few sips before admitting to myself that it ain’t my thing and can I just have a cuppa T please?

I wanted to try it for myself. Get all those beautiful autumnal spices filling my flat with glorious smellz, and creating the flavours from and from scratch and knowing exactly what was going into my bev. Turned out to be the actual dream, I liked it a latte! Sorry, had to be done >:)

This is a dairy free version, although obvs use milk if ya like that kinda thing.

For two mugs of the sweet stuff, you will need the following:

2 mugs of almond milk (milk of choice)

1 tbsp maple syrup

1bsp pumpkin puree (can be a b*%ch to find, but I believe Waitrose do it and a few other places)

1.5 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 mug brewed espresso (or more if you would like it a tad stronger)

Whipped cream and a dust of cinnamon to top. Hehe.

Start by pouring one cup of almond milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon and pumpkin puree in a small saucepan and simmer on a low heat for around 3-5 mins. Add the second mug of almond milk and whisk until all combined and lookin’ dreamy.

Find your finest mesh sieve and pour through into a slightly bigger pan to remove the pumpkin pulp.

Add the coffee and whisk through. Have a lil taste test and add more maple syrup if needed.

Pour straight into your fanciest mugs, sprinkle with a little extra cinnamon and mayyybs even some whipped cream. >:)

Curl up on the sofa with ya blankets / dog / cat / boyf / girlf and enjoy.
