I’m gonna speak for everyone when and admit I am a bit of a basic betch when it comes to brunchin’.
I am aaall over smashed avo on sourdough, flatties (flat whites, FYI), fancy stacks of pancakes and some sort of green juice. I know, who do I think I am? I just can’t get enough of the stuff and I ain’t ashamed.
When the weekend rolls around, brunch is always on the agenda. Our feast is usually created by the first one up and eaten in bed / on the sofa watching Saturday Kitchen Live, coz who actually has £15 to spend on brunch on the reg?
BUT sometimes I just need a little brunch adventure, as a lovely relaxed way to discover new corners of London, foodie gems and an excuse to catch up with friends. I was long overdue a chinwag with my lovely pal Emily, who blogs over at Auburn Antics. We are both lovers of brunch (basic blogger gals, hello) so we fancied pushing the boat out.
If you are hungry this weekend and fancy a bangin’ brunch in London, I have just the place. Let me introduce you to MILK.
You will find MILK in Balham, about a 3 minute walk from the tube. It is nestled in a lovely little cobbled side street complete with flower sellers and cheese stalls (with tasters, btw), my kinda place!
The queue isn’t too bad, we were only waiting around 10 mins and we arrived slap bang on 11 o’clock, prime brunch time.
As soon as you step in, the food envy begins. Each and every dish just looks SO incredible. We had to think long and hard before making any choices, so we ordered some bevs to mull over.
AND the best phone case I have ever seen. Skinny Dip London, you da best. Shame I can’t get one for my brick of a Samsung, ey!
We finally ordered.
Whenever there are GF pancakes on offer, I am ALL over it. Just look at these babies.
Buckwheat pancakes, wild agriculture raspberries, meadowsweet almond crumb, caramelised goat’s cream (oh JEEZ) and fennel flowers.
Perhaps the sexiest plate of food I’ve ever eaten?
The best thing about brunching with fellow bloggers is the shameless snappin’.
No qualms or awkward vibes as you both stand up to get the perfect birds eye view shot (above), all the angles and close ups. It’s aaall good.
Emily went for the baked eggs, grilled kaeserkrainer (sausage with CHEESE running through it) house made labne, wild ramson, dill & chive flowers.
For the meat eaters out there, I’m not gonna lie, the cheese and sausage combo looks preeetty damn tasty.
We devoured our food whilst catching up on everything and anything, vowing not to leave it this long until our next brunch date!
Or maybe we could pop back to sample the cake…
Feelin’ full and very satisfied, we headed back out into the sunshine to soak up the most of this mini heatwave we seem to be having in London at the mo. It is sweaty. It is glorious.
If you have a corker of a brunch place that I need to check out, lemme know. The more the merrier!
