Firstly, sorry this post is a tad late. I have been completely snowed under with Elf duties meaning that I haven’t given enough TLC to you. Sorry, pint of mulled wine on me. Anyway here is the post I have meaning to pop up over the past week, SANTACON.
The annual abundance of red and white adorned hooligans who flock to central London for a day of drinking, merrymaking, galavanting between pubs and landmarks and absolute silliness. If this ain’t festive fun in it’s finest form, I’m not sure what is.
I popped over to Nelly’s on a frosty blue skied Saturday morning to get our Santa glad rags on and kick the day off with a brunch.
After galavanting around in the flat guzzling Prosecco and eating sausages, it was time to hit the road.
Ok you noticed. I am dressed as a UNICORN… I know, I should be ashamed.
However I opted for the warmth option as my Santa attire would leave me freezin’ which is never a good look… But at least I had a hat (which I lost after about 5 minutes) right?
Reminiscent of our teenage years we drank our cans on the bus, classy birds.
4 cans down, we finally rolled into Hyde Park – see what I meant about hooligan behaviour?
We strolled through hyde park in search of the rest of the Santa pack as the low winter sunlight flooded orange hues through the trees for just a moment before the bright sky faded to a deep cobalt blue. Don’t you love winter sunsets?
We couldn’t find Santa’s ANYWHERE at first, but then one by one they gradually started to appear…
And the madness began…
The vast crowds continued to gather, howling Christmas tunes, chanting over megaphones and causing much confusion to passers by.
Then things got a little out of hand, I wheeley wasn’t expecting this…
After a few hours of festive madness spreading across Hyde Park, rather amused security (who hijacked my camera and took the picture below) finally managed to disperse the herd of howling Santa’. We decided it was time to set off in search of grub.
Almost forgetting that we were actually in public, we shamelessly made our way up Oxford Street to Kingly Court which is possibly one of my favourite places to grab a bite.
After much deliberation, we settled on Stax Diner for burgers. They went down an absolute treat.
Topped off with a round of Tequila shots, naturally. What’s wrong with us?
Not gonna lie, we arrived home and collapsed into bed by around 12 (it felt like it was about 4AM) – that is the beauty of day partaaaying, a good night’s kip and only a smidgen of a hangover the following day!
What festivities have you been getting up to? ALSO, who hasn’t done their Christmas shopping yet?! …*shyly raises hand*
