Making Smoothies

Everyone loves a good smoothie to start the day. I am a big ole fan of whizzing up everything nutritious into a big ole glass of goodness to guzzle down and give me a kick start.

I was pretty obsessed with my green smoothie a while back although the blender at my student gaff is pretty crud so I moved back to my usual microwave porridge (eeeewwwe).  I always spot these magical Nutribullets popping up all over the blogosphere, health bloggers chuck carrots, kale, lizards, wizards and berries and whizz em’ up into a magical liquid that gives you a skip in your step and makes you feel one millllion dollars. My brother has caved and bought himself one, woootwoooot!

Nutribullets are so popular as the powerful extractor blade breaks down what you pop in so you can access all the nutrition inside the seeds, skins and stems making it super easy for your body to absorb, pretty nifty right? The handbook that comes with it is full of oodles of tips and recipes to get ya started.  We went for the immune booster, this is what we popped in it…

1-2 handfuls mixed greens

1 banana

1 peeled orange

1 cup of pineapple

1 handful of blueberries

Stuff everything in, top it with water and blend it all up…
