This weekend I popped back to ma home taaan on the Isle of Wight to spend a bit of time with the May clan. There’s nothing better than leaving the smog and grey skies of London behind and gradually driving into blue skies and sunshine.
Pops met me on the other side in full ‘daddy cool’ style with Sugar Hill Gang – Rappers Delight up full blast and windows wound down as we slowly drove down the pier. S w a g.
Back home awaited a box of Tunnocks and a pot of tea. How do you eat em? I tend to carefully remove the chocolate shell and scoop out the marshmallow with ma tongue. Mmm.
When on the Island in drizzly weather, its mandatory to go on a walk in the woods. And preferably get covered in mud.
And stumble across some sheep.
They didn’t want us to come into their field, so they tried to BAAAAAAAAAR us.
BEEEEH H H H BAAAAARRRRRR
BAAAAAAAAAAH.
We felt a sheepish so we headed to the Quarr Abbey Cafe to warm our cockles some tea and grub.
As well as lovely lunch options (even for us GF folk), they have a farm shop full of Island made bits n bobs.
We meandered back through the mud back to the house for many a mug of hot beverages before venturing out into Ryde (another mandatory experience).
I am now feeling sleepily and slightly worse for wear about to return to the city for a week of birthday shenanigans. But for now, I shall leave you with this nugget of joy.
You’re welcome.
Ix
PS: Kudos to my bro Oscar for the bizarre photographs of sheep.
