Avocados are b e a utiful. I took a little while to come round to the fellas, then I realised how kind they were to my body and I decided to give em’ a chance.
Avocados keep your heart at top form and regulate blood pressure, they also help prevent diabetes and are packed with anti inflammatory antioxidants like vitamin E, C that reduce inflammation in your joints (good if you click your fingers, aaay). Plus, monosaturated fats give your skin a lovely glow, increasing elasticity and reducing redness and irritation.
Lots of folk think that due to the high fat content in Avocados, they ain’t good for ya. However, research has shown that the fatty acids are used as slow burning energy that makes us feel full ‘n’ satisfied for longer therefore promoting weight loss, shweeeet. Plus, they are bloomin’ genius in gluten free and dairy free baking, if you haven’t tried my avocado brownies yet, do it.
I popped together an alarmingly quick vegan chocolate mousse. The perfect bowl of lovin’ if you need something sweet and indulgent to devour on a grey day. What you need (makes 1 big bowl, perfect for sharing – double or triple quantities to feed a bunch)
1 medium avocado
1/4 cup pure honey/maple syrup
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/4 cup plain alpro soya yogurt (or normal if you ain’t dairy free)
1. Lob all the ingredients into a blender.
2. Blitz together until smooth and glossy.
3. Spoon into a bowl, cover and pop into a fridge for a couple of hours.
I couldn’t wait. Grab a couple of spoons and DIG IN.
