I have an unhealthy addiction to peanut butter. I without fail go through a jar a week. You can put it on anything and it will taste magical, I tend to like mine on a tablespoon.
Considering my unconditional love for the stuff, I thought it was about time I had a go at making a jar of my own. If you are a clean eater and a massive fan of peanut putter, this is a great way of steering clear of all the extra sugar and oil business. It’s nut good for ya!
In a nutshell, all you really need is a bag of plain peanuts for about 2 squid. The rest is probably hangin’ about in your cupboard. Lets get crackin.
A bag of plain peanuts
Squeeze of maple syrup
Sprinkle of cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Spoon of coconut oil.
First of all, pour your peanuts into a frying pan on a medium heat. Roasting em for a while helps ease of their natural oils, bringing out the flavour and making the blitzing process a bit easier. Once they have softened and a bit oily pour into your blender.
This is the longest part of the peanut butter journey, add a wee bit of coconut or sesame oil if you fancy it, a squeeze of maple syrup depending on how sweet you like it, and a sprinkle of cinnamon if that tickles yo pickle.
Make yourself a cup of tea, do a dance and after about 10 minutes (or more) you should end up with a big ole batch of smooth peanut butter.
Pop it into a jar and there ya have it. Your own PB ready in the cupboard for all your midnight trips down to the kitchen.
